About the India International Science Festival (IISF)

The IISF was initiated with a vision to endorse the joy and excitement of scientific innovation and exploration. Its prime objective is to inspire scientific thinking and foster an environment where science is celebrated. With its inception in 2015, the festival has grown exponentially over the years and has evolved into the country’s largest public science festival.

Organisers of IISF 2021

The management and organization of the IISF 2021 are a joint venture among the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), the Department of Science & Technology, the Department of Biotechnology, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Additionally, Vijnana Bharati, a renowned name in the Indian scientific community, is also collaborating on this event.

Nodal Agency: National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research

The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research has been designated as the nodal agency for the IISF 2021. This autonomous institute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences is chiefly responsible for carrying out the administrative and organizational tasks related to the festival.

IISF 2021 theme

The theme chosen for the 2021 edition of IISF is “Celebrating Creativity in Science, Technology and Innovation for a Prosperous India.” This theme aligns perfectly with the overarching spirit and idea of the festival, focusing on the role of scientific creativity in crafting a prosperous and sustainable future for the country. Furthermore, the theme will resonate with Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of Indian independence in 2022.
