2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games Fun Run India

India hosted the first-ever 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games Fun Run in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on 23 June 2026 under the Olympic Council of Asia’s “Asian Games for All” initiative. The event was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and coincided with International Olympic Day.

Event details

  • Date & venue: 23 June 2026; University Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
  • Organiser: Olympic Council of Asia’s “Asian Games for All” initiative; local implementation by the Indian Olympic Association.
  • Scale: Over 40,000 participants in the fun run.
  • Associated activities: Zumba, yoga and gymnastics demonstrations, bodybuilding showcase and Indian Army Band; concluded with a youth rally featuring roller skaters and electric scooters.

State contribution & athlete schemes

  • Kerala representation: 115 athletes from Kerala in Khelo India (including 69 women) and 17 athletes under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
  • Khelo India: National programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for grassroots talent identification and development.
  • TOPS: Central scheme providing financial, scientific and training support to identified elite athletes.

Hosting rights and targets

  • Future bids: India holds hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and has lodged a bid for the 2036 Olympic Games.
  • Stated performance targets: Official aims include ranking among the top 10 sporting nations by 2036 and top 5 by 2047.
