AAI commenced Aviation Awareness Week 2020
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) have commenced the Aviation Awareness Week 2020. The awareness week is being observed between November 23, 2020 to November 27, 2020.
The awareness week is being observed at all the airports and other locations that are managed by the Airport Authority of India.
Why this is being observed?
The Aviation awareness week is being observed in order to raise awareness on the aviation safety. The Airport Authority of India will also undertake the employment engagement programs during the awareness week. The awareness week celebrations stress upon the safety preventive measures that needs to be adopted at every airport premises irrespective of the volume of traffic. The awareness week is also being observed in the light of increasing wildlife or bird menace around the airports. Observance of the week would also stress on the long term objective of zero fatality by 2030.
Objective of zero fatality by 2030
The objective of zero fatality by 2030 was envisaged by the International Civil Aviation organisation under the Global aviation safety plan.
International Civil Aviation organisation (ICAO)
ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations. The agency is involved in changing the principles and techniques of international air navigation. It is also involved in the planning and development of international air transport. The agency further ensure safe and orderly growth of the aviation sector. The agency has been headquartered in Canada and it was formed in the year 1947.
The council adopts the standards and recommends the practices regarding the air navigation, infrastructure and flight inspection. It also facilitate the border-crossing procedures for international civil aviation. The council further defines the protocols for air accident investigation as per the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.
