Army Day
The Army Day is celebrated on 15th January each year to commemorate the taking over as commander-in-chief of the Indian Army by the then Lieutenant General K M Carriappa in 1949 from General Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India. This year, the 73rd Army Day is observed. During this occasion, the Indian Army paid tribute to the continuous efforts of the soldiers at the National War Memorial in the national capital.
