Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Drought (BOLD)

Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Drought (BOLD) was launched by the Kadhi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). It is a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at mitigating desertification and boosting rural employment. It was launched from Nichla Mandwa – a tribal village in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It was launched as part of the KVIC’s “Kadhi Bamboo Festival”.

Under this initiative, the KVIC created global record of planting the largest number of bamboo samplings in a single location. It had planted 5,000 samplings of bamboo species – BambusaTulda and BambusaPolymorpha – that were brought from Assam in over 16 acres of vacant arid land.
