Bangladesh-Bhutan Preferential Trade Agreement
Bangladesh recently signed a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Bhutan to allow duty-free access to a variety of goods between the two countries. This is the first PTA signed by Bangladesh with any country in the world. The agreement was signed during the occasion marking the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Bhutan was the first country to recognize Bangladesh as an independent country. Bangladesh is expected to ink 11 PTAs and Free Trade Agreements with other countries in the near future.
