“Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav” -India@75 Celebrations
The Central Government will launch Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav next month. Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav is the countdown to the 75th year of India’s independence.

- The Indian government has decided to start the celebration of 75 years of Indian independence 75 weeks before 15th August 2022.
- The idea behind this Mohatsav is to create a vision for India@2047. The Mahotsav will see various social and cultural events along with the showcase of technological and scientific achievements. The event will also highlight some unknown locations and contributions made by some freedom fighters.
- The government will dedicate various mega projects to the nation.
- Different ministries have been asked to identify different important projects and all the ministries have been asked to initiate all-round India@75 celebrations from next month.
- Inter-ministerial meetings and reviews will begin this week.
- Sectoral group of secretaries has been asked to devise detailed plans for activities/events and to come out with a weekly theme for each of the 75 weeks.
- Ministries have been asked to plan a ‘people intensive’ and a ‘low cost’ campaign that encourages community participation.
- The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting will release a calendar of events along with timelines soon.
- Setting up on Bal Vatikas for early childhood care at Anganwadi centres, National Tribal research institute in Delhi, National Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Gujarat and Ranchi are on the anvil.
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has been given the task to bring in ‘model village’ facilities in 10,000 villages having a high SC population. The Minority Affairs Ministry will also consider an amendment to the Haj Committee Act, 2002, for including Ziyarat and Umrah pilgrim as holy sites in addition to Mecca. Complete mechanization of sewer cleaning will also be done in 100 towns in the same period.
