The Chhattisgarh High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking the designation of the Bhoramdeo Wildlife Sanctuary (BWS) as a tiger reserve. Located in the Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh, the sanctuary encompasses around 325 square kilometers and shares its border with Madhya Pradesh’s Kanha National Park. BWS boasts diverse landscapes, including lush forests, rolling hills, and the Maikal Range of the Satpura Hills, providing a vital habitat for numerous wildlife species, including tigers, leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, and various bird and reptile species.
