Bihar Wins ‘Pandemic category’ Digital India Awards 2020
President Ram Nath Kovind will virtually present the Digital India Awards 2020 on December 30, 2020. This year, the entire process of applying for the award to the prize distribution is online due to COVID-19. In the 2020 Digital India Awards, Bihar has won the award in the “Pandemic Category”.
- It is the 6th edition of the Digital India Awards and 24 will be awarded in 7 categories this year.
- Bihar government’s initiative for providing financial assistance to stranded workers outside the state through Bihar Sahayata Mobile App has won the award in the “Innovation in pandemic” Category.
- Through the app, financial assistance was directly provided in the accounts of the workers.
- The Chief Minister Secretariat, the Department of Disaster Management along the National Informatics Centre (NIC) of Bihar have been jointly chosen as the winners of the award.
Digital India Awards
Digital India Awards are being given every two years since the year 2009. The awards were instituted under the National Portal of India to recognize innovative digital solutions. The award is given in various categories.
It is a campaign that was launched by the Prime Minister in the year 2015 with an aim to avail government services to the people electronically and making the country digitally empowered. It also includes providing a high-speed network in rural areas and increasing digital literacy in the country.
