Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY)

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana deals with rural development in India. In the year 2014 DDUGKY was launched. This is part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission. It is carried out by the Ministry of Rural Development.

Highlights

DDUGKY’s vision is to turn poor rural youth into economically independent, globally relevant workers. It is intended for young people between the ages of 15 and 35. DDUGKY?s mission is to diversify the incomes of poor families in rural areas and to enable the career orientation of rural youth. The 1Rs 1,500 crore corpus aims to improve the employability of young people in rural areas. The program pays directly to student bank accounts via digital vouchers as part of a government skills development initiative.

This program supports the social and economic programs of the central government. They are Digital India, Make in India, Start up India, Stand Up India and Smart Cities and. The roots of this program are in Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, which was introduced in 2004 and was later replaced by DDUGKY.

Objective of DDUGKY

The two main purposes of the program are, the program takes into account the income diversity of poor families in rural areas addresses the career orientation of young people in rural areas the program focuses primarily on young people between the ages of 15 and 35 years. The program also provides training based on national skill requirements.

Benefits and Importance of DDUGKY

Young people in rural India face hurdles in seeking a better life due to lack of formal education as well as required skills. This program fills this gap by training young people according to world standards.

The 2015 National Policy on Skills Development and Entrepreneurship predicts that by 2022 there will be 109.73 million skills gaps in 24 major sectors. Therefore, DDUGKY is essential to fill this gap. It played an important role in Atma Nirbhar Bharat by providing the necessary skilled workers. This scheme also supported the Skills India campaign by supporting their various economic and social.

Working of DDUGKY

DDUGKY is funding private education and qualification professionals to open a progressive, modern and well-equipped training center. Qualified trainers at these training centers offer work-oriented training courses, train computer / tablet usage, and speak English and other life skills. After training, students will also be provided with placement assistance. Students receive training completely free of charge and are also provided with free uniforms, books, materials. Meals and accommodation are free in the dormitory. For non-resident and tablets training centers, outbound and inbound costs and a daily meal are provided free of charge after each training session.

Eligibility

Rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 are eligible for training under this program. Women, SC / ST, and disabled people have an age limit of up to 45 years. Candidates must have one of the following requirements, BPL PDS card, BPL card, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana card, Family under MGNREGA should have least one paid worker in the last 12 months up to 15 business days and Family must be a member of the village’s registered SHG.
