PM Modi to Unveil ‘Statue of Peace’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil ‘Statue of Peace’ on November 16, 2020. The Statue will be unveiled in order to mark the 151st Birth Anniversary celebrations of Jain acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj.

Highlights

The Statue of Peace is 151 inch tall. It has been made from Ashtadhatu that is 8 metals. It has Copper as the major constituent. The statue is being installed at the Vijay Vallabh Sadhana Kendra at Jetpura, in Pali city of the State of Rajasthan.

Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj

Acharya Vijay Vallabhsuri was a Jain monk born on October 26, 1870 in Gujarat. The monk was a disciple of Vijayanandsuri. He worked for the religious and for improving the social life of the people. He dedicatedly spread the message of Lord Mahavira. He worked in Punjab so he was given honorific Punjab Kesari. He became disciple of Muni Harshvijay and was conferred the title of Acharya by Sumtivijay at Lahore. He also conferred the title of Pattadhar by Jain sangha.

Work Life

Vallabhsuri has always given emphasis on education and inspired Jains to build more educational institutions. He is known as the founder of Shree Parshwanath Jain Vidyalaya in Pali district of Rajasthan. He further founded Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya at Mumbai, Vadodara and Pune. With his inspiration, more than 50 educational institutions of eminence, including colleges, schools and study centres, were established and are operational across several States. He wrote books and religious texts in Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi. He had also supported Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent movement for independence of India. He died on 22 September 1954. The year 2020 marks his 151st birth anniversary.
