Evia, also known as Euboea, is the second largest island in Greece after Crete. It is separated from the mainland Greece by the Euripus Strait. It may have broken away from the mainland because of an earthquake.
Wildfire has erupted on this island on August 3, resulting in the destruction of numerous houses and businesses. It forced evacuation of thousands of residents and tourists. Most of the northern part of the island was destroyed by the fires. It is one of the many active fires currently witnessed in Greece.
