Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill, 2021

Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill, 2021 was recently passed by the state assembly to recognise anyone who lived in Goa for 30 years or more as Bhumiputra (son of the soil). An individual who is recognised as Bhumiputra will have the right to own his/her “small dwelling” unit if the ownership is undetermined so far.
The purpose of the bill is to provide a mechanism to give ownership right to self-occupied dweller of small housing units. Under this law, a Bhumiputras can stake claim to ownership of their house no more than 250 sq m, built before April 1, 2019.
