Gorakh Dhandha

The Haryana Government has banned the use of the expression “Gorakh Dhandha”, which is often used to refer to “unethical practices”. This came in response to the demands of the Nath community that viewed this expression to be insulting to the followers of Goraknath. The ban is aimed at preventing politicians and public figures from using the term and in a long-run, prevent its usage by the society.
The phrase is viewed as derogatory as it hurts the sentiments of the followers of Saint Gorakhnath – the Hindu saint who founded the Nath masonic movement. He is believed to have lived in the 11th century. He is one of the two famous disciples of Matsyendranath.
