Gujarat Government Upgrades PMJAY-MA Scheme

Gujarat Government Upgrades PMJAY-MA Scheme

Introduction: In a significant move towards improving healthcare access, the Gujarat Government recently introduced an upgraded version of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Mukhyamantri Amrutam (PMJAY-MA) scheme. This upgraded scheme allows individuals to avail free medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh, doubling the previous limit of Rs 5 lakh. With this enhanced coverage, beneficiaries with Ayushman cards can now access a wide range of medical treatments and surgeries, including transplants and cochlear implants, within the revised financial limit.

Expanded Coverage and Treatment Options:

The revamped PMJAY-MA scheme significantly expands the coverage and treatment options available to beneficiaries. Individuals possessing Ayushman cards can now access free medical treatment and surgeries of up to Rs 10 lakh. This increased limit ensures that patients can avail themselves of essential medical procedures without the burden of exorbitant expenses. The upgraded scheme covers a range of treatments, including surgeries, transplants of kidneys, hearts, livers, and cochlear implants, among others.

Wide Network of Authorized Hospitals:

To facilitate the implementation of the PMJAY-MA scheme, a comprehensive network of authorized hospitals has been established in Gujarat. A total of 2,027 government hospitals, 803 private hospitals, and 18 Central government hospitals in the state have been enlisted to offer medical treatment and perform surgeries under the PMJAY-MA program. This extensive network ensures that beneficiaries have access to quality healthcare services across various regions of the state. Moreover, these authorized hospitals provide a comprehensive list of 2,471 different types of treatments and surgeries that can be availed under the scheme.

Integration of State Schemes:

The PMJAY-MA scheme in Gujarat is an integration of the Mukhyamantri Amrutam and Mukhyamantri Amrutam Vatsalya schemes with the Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY program introduced in 2019. This integration has expanded the reach and benefits of the scheme, making all beneficiaries of the state schemes eligible for PMJAY-MA cards. The amalgamation of these schemes ensures a unified approach towards providing comprehensive healthcare coverage to the people of Gujarat.

Distribution of Ayushman PVC Cards:

As part of the upgraded PMJAY-MA scheme, Ayushman PVC cards made of polyvinyl chloride material are being distributed to over 50 lakh beneficiaries across Gujarat. These cards are designed to be easily carried by individuals and serve as an essential identification document to avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits. The distribution of these cards aims to streamline the process and ensure efficient access to healthcare services for the beneficiaries.

Improving Healthcare Access and Affordability:

The upgraded PMJAY-MA scheme in Gujarat is a significant step towards improving healthcare access and affordability for the people of the state. By increasing the coverage limit to Rs 10 lakh, the government aims to alleviate the financial burden associated with critical medical treatments and surgeries. This scheme provides a safety net for individuals and families, ensuring that they can access quality healthcare without compromising their financial well-being.
