Howrah bridge

Built in 1943, the Howrah Bridge is situated between the twin cities of Howrah and Kolkata over the Hooghly river in West Bengal. This 705-m long bridge was later renamed as Rabindra Setu after the first Indian Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. It is currently the world’s the sixth largest cantilever bridge.
This famous bridge was lit up in Olympic colours to celebrate the games held in Tokyo. It will be lit up during the evening times from July 20 to August 8. This initiative was taken by Kolkata’s Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, under the Ministry of Ports.
