ICMR: No Link Between Covid-19 Vaccines and Sudden Deaths

A fresh study published by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) nullifies fears concerning Covid-19 vaccines leading to sudden deaths. The research indicates that getting vaccinated diminishes the likelihood of sudden deaths, particularly in seemingly healthy individuals who are discharged within 24 hours post-vaccination. Primary causes for most sudden deaths are heart-related conditions such as irregular heart rhythms, obstructed blood flow, and decreased heart muscle functionality. Other risk factors leading to sudden deaths include a family history of sudden death, smoking, binge drinking, and vigorous exercise.

The ICMR study sheds light on probable mechanisms by which Covid-19 can affect heart health, including damage to heart muscles and blood vessels. Severe cases of Covid-19 needing hospitalization are associated with a heightened risk of sudden deaths. Individuals suffering from severe illness have a four times higher probability of facing such outcomes.

Eclipses

Eclipses are fascinating astronomical phenomena that take place when the sun, moon, and earth align in a straight line. However, eclipses don’t occur every time there is a new moon or full moon. This is because the moon’s orbit around the earth is inclined about 5 degrees to the earth’s orbit around the sun, which implies that the moon is generally either too high or too low to cast a shadow on Earth, resulting in a solar eclipse, or to enter Earth’s shadow, leading to a lunar eclipse. Eclipses only transpire when the moon intersects the ecliptic plane at the same time it is new or full.

Eclipses occur in pairs, with one solar and one lunar eclipse happening within a two-week span, which is dubbed an eclipse season. There are typically two such seasons every year, their timing being variable depending on the alignment of sun and nodes.

Thailand’s Cabinet Approves Marriage Equality Bill

Thailand’s Cabinet recently approved a modification to the Civil and Commercial Code, opening the door for same-sex marriage rights in the country. By changing the language within the code from “men and women” to “individuals”, and from “husband and wife” to “marriage partners”, the aim is to grant equal rights to same-sex couples. This would secure the legal right for same-sex couples to form a family.

Uttar Pradesh Imposes Ban on Halal Certification

The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration Commission recently imposed a ban on the production, storage, distribution, and sale of Halal certified food products within the state. Invoking Section 30 (2) (d) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and powers under Section 30 (2) (a) of the same Act, the order argues that halal certification causes confusion about the quality of food items and inadequately labels a wide range of products including dairy goods, bakery items, and edible oils.
