India’s Election Commission Launches Online Financial Reporting

In a significant move towards transparency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched an online portal for political parties to submit their financial reports. The new system aims to simplify the process of filing Contribution Reports, Audited Annual Accounts, and Election Expenditure Statements, as mandated by the Representation of People’s Act, 1951. To ensure complete transparency, any political party refraining from online submission will have to provide a written justification, which will then be published online by ECI.

Data Carbon Ladder: A Tool for Measuring Digital Carbon Footprint

Scientists have developed a novel tool, known as the Data Carbon Ladder, which enables businesses to calculate their carbon emissions associated with digital data. As global data volumes are projected to exceed 180 zettabytes by 2025, this tool aids in understanding the carbon dioxide output of digital data, often overlooked in global decarbonization policies.
