The Government of India, through the Union Ministry for Jal Shakti, recently convened a conference of State Ministers on the subject of the Jal Jeevan Mission in India’s capital city, New Delhi. Consequently, ensuring water security, as well as providing safe and adequate drinking water to all Indians, has become a leading priority for the Government.

In response to these concerning issues, the government has proposed the Jal Jeevan Mission. This ambitious scheme seeks to provide a water supply to every Indian household by 2024. The design of this initiative will incorporate various water conservation efforts. These include point recharge, desilting minor irrigation tanks, using greywater for agricultural purposes and ensuring source sustainability.
