At the crack of dawn on Mahalaya, the start of the Durga Puja festivities, something extraordinary happened in Deoghar, Jharkhand. Inmates of a home for destitute children were greeted by the cries of a baby left at their doorstep. This heartwarming event unfolded in the Narayan Seva Ashram, offering a glimmer of hope and love.
The Narayan Seva Ashram: A Haven for the Needy
Founded in 2009 by Hare Ram Pandey, the Narayan Seva Ashram has been a sanctuary for underprivileged children. It has become a symbol of support and care for those who need it the most.
A Divine Blessing from Goddess Durga
Hare Ram Pandey, a 67-year-old with a heart full of compassion, sees the abandoned baby as a divine blessing from Goddess Durga herself. This occurrence on Mahalaya, a special day for devotees, brings a unique blend of hope and joy.
The ’35th Durga’ Arrives
The infant girl, found at the ashram’s gate, was lovingly embraced into the Narayan Seva Ashram as the ’35th Durga.’ She joins a group of 34 other girls, all of whom have similar stories of abandonment by their parents. This act symbolizes that each child is a sacred blessing, much like the goddess they honor during Durga Puja.
