The country’s first “Gender Park” in Kerala will become functional from February 11. The three-tower “Gender Park” of the Kerala government built at the cost of Rs 300 crore is a step of the state towards gender equality.

The Gender Park will become operational on February 11 coinciding with the second edition of the International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE-II).
The Gender Park and ICGE-II will be inaugurated by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
ICGE-II will be held from February 11 to 13, 2021.
On the opening day of the conference, the foundation of the International Women’s Trade and Research Centre (IWTRC) will also be laid down by the CM.
IWTRC aims to provide a safe and secure ecosystem for women entrepreneurs and space for them to market their products.
A Gender Museum, Convention Centre, Gender Library, and an Amphitheatre will also be launched during the event.
The launch of these four facilities will form the 1st phase of the Gender Park
The Gender Museum will showcase various social struggles of women, shifts in their status, turning points, achievements, etc.
The Gender Library aims to create public awareness on gender and its role in development.
The Convention Centre will have a seating capacity of over 500 people.
ICGE II
ICGE-II will explore ways to strengthen the economic potential of women and transgenders to equip them as sustainable entrepreneurs. The focal theme of the event will be ‘Gender in Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Social Business: The Mediating Role of Empowerment’. It is being organized in the park’s campus in collaboration with UN Women (part of UN).
ICGE-II will hold 9 plenary sessions and many parallel sessions with 100 delegates and 50 speakers.
