KONKAN exercise is a bilateral maritime exercise held between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy. It is named after the Western Coastal region of India. It has been hosted in rotational basis by both the navies since 2004. It is part of the bilateral efforts to improve the interoperability between the armed forces of India and the United Kingdom.
The latest edition is expected to be held next month, with the involvement of the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth carrier strike group. The wargames will be held around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It will witness the participation of Indian destroyers, submarines, P8I anti-submarine warfare planes and MiG-29 K fighters.
