Lag B’Omer

Lag B’Omer is a Jewish festival that is observed on the Hebrew month of Iyer. It falls on the 33rd day of the Omer, the 49-day period between Passover and Shanvuot. It is only day during the Omer when celebrations are permitted. During this day, thousands of Jewish pilgrims go to the base of Mount Meron to pay tribute to Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, a second century sage whose death anniversary is observed during this day.
