Maharashtra Launches Scheme to Help Startups File IT Patents

Recently, the Maharashtra Government has launched a scheme to provide financial aid to startups for filing IT patents. This scheme has been launched to give a boost to the startup ecosystem in the state.

  • The new scheme of the government was launched by the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
  • The scheme will provide financial assistance to innovative startups to file IT patents.
  • Under the scheme, approximately 125-150 startups will be provided financial support in the first phase.
  • Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh will be provided to the startups in the state.
  • Along with this, financial support up to Rs 2 lakh will be provided for certification for the startup’s ideas and quality testing.
  • The government aims to become the number one state in startups and different skill development schemes.
  • Different schemes have been introduced for this goal and many others will be launched in the future.
  • It has also been proposed to set up an international standard Center for Skill Development in Mumbai.
  • Maharashtra was ranked second in the recently released India Innovation Index.

Recently, NITI Aayog released the second edition of the India Innovation Index. Karnataka topped this index and Maharashtra was ranked second. Bihar was last on the index. The first edition of the index was released in 2019.
