Ministry Launches ‘Santusht Portal’ for Labour Law Monitoring

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has recently launched a new initiative called the ‘Santusht portal’. This initiative is designed to better monitor the implementation of labour laws at the grassroots level, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and effectiveness.

Objective of the ‘Santusht’ Portal

The primary aim of the ‘Santusht’ portal is to foster transparency, accountability, and effective delivery of public services. It also seeks to ensure proper execution of the policies and schemes that fall under the purview of the Ministry of Labour and Employment at grassroots levels. This is achieved through continuous monitoring, which can help ensure that labour laws are being implemented as intended.

Goals for 2020 and the Four Codes

As we move forward into 2020, the government has set specific targets related to the implementation of the four key codes on wages, industrial relations, social security, and occupational safety, health, and working conditions. The full and effective implementation of all these codes is expected to lead to an improved ease of doing business and will also serve to safeguard the interests of workers.

Public Grievance Redressal

For addressing public grievances, the Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) portal is already in operation. This platform serves a crucial role in hearing, addressing, and monitoring the grievances raised by the public.

About the Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS)

The CPGRAMS is an online, web-enabled system that was developed collaboratively by the National Informatics Centre (under the Ministry of Electronics & IT, or MeitY), the Directorate of Public Grievances (DPG), and the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The latter two bodies fall under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions.

The main purpose of CPGRAMS is to enable members of the public to lodge grievances online, from any location. Once lodged, these grievances can then be tracked online as they’re followed up with the relevant departments. This transparency also enables the DARPG to effectively monitor the status of each grievance.

With these systems in place, it’s clear that the Ministry of Labour and Employment is taking strides to ensure better implementation of labour laws and redressal of grievances. The new ‘Santusht’ portal, alongside the existing CPGRAMS, should serve to create an environment of transparency, accountability, and effective resolution for workers across India.
