Recently, a spotlight has been thrown on the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) as it launched an innovative e-National Level Awareness Programme dubbed SAMBHAV. This evokes interest as the programme is set to pave the way for prospective entrepreneurs among youths in the country.
About the Unique Initiative
SAMBHAV is a mass outreach initiative under the auspices of the Ministry of MSME. A key feature of the programme is that it targets students from diverse colleges and ITIs across the country. The Ministry aims to motivate these targeted individuals towards entrepreneurship through the efforts of its 130 field offices.
These agencies will be responsible for fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among college students by exposing them to various schemes run by the Ministry of MSME. This awareness drive will be conducted through several Audio/Video film presentations, which will serve as a medium to communicate the programme’s mission and objectives.
Underlying Objectives
The fundamental drive behind this initiative is to promote the youth’s engagement in entrepreneurship. The government intends to leverage youth entrepreneurship as a tool for boosting domestic manufacturing, ultimately pushing economic growth. This move highlights the government’s dedication to elevating the role of MSME in amplifying national productivity.
The Need for SAMBHAV
Currently, the government is striving to heighten the contribution of MSMEs to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and national exports. It is prioritizing the expansion of the GDP contribution from the present 30% to an ambitious 50%. Moreover, the employment capacity of the MSME sector is projected to proliferate from 11 crore to 15 crore, underlining the government’s commitment to creating jobs in this sector.
Initiatives Relating to SAMBHAV
Several related initiatives have been rolled out alongside SAMBHAV to boost youth entrepreneurship and employment generation. These include the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), showcasing the inclusivity of the government’s entrepreneurial drive.
The Venture Capital Scheme for Agri-Business Development also aligns with this narrative, targeting the agricultural sector’s potential for growth. Other notable initiatives encompass Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Generation Unlimited in India (YuWaah), National Career Service, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Pradhan Mantri Rojgar ProtsahanYojana (PMRPY), and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA).
These programmes collectively contribute to the overall mission of fostering a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem. They signify a commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship and enhance domestic manufacturing, leading to sustainable economic growth. They are a testament to the government’s steadfast resolve to promote youth entrepreneurship and unravel its untapped potential.
