Mullah Abdul Ghani
Mullah Abdul Ghani is nominated as the leader of the new Taliban-led Afghanistan government. Also known as Â“BaradarÂ” (brother), he is known as a co-founder of Taliban along with Mullah Muhammad Omar Â– the first Amir. Baradar is among the few dozen of the original members of the Taliban.
Baradar headed the TalibanÂ’s negotiation team in Qatar, which resulted in the 2020 peace agreement. Between 1996 and 2001, Mullah Abdul Gahni Baradar played a prominent role as the deputy minister of defence. He was arrested by Pakistan government in 2010 and was later released after the USÂ’ intervention.
