National Medicinal Plants Board

The National Medical Plants Board (NMPB) was set up in 2000 to promote coordination between various government stakeholders involved in the overall growth of medicinal plants sector both at the central/state and international level. It currently comes under the aegis of the AYUSH ministry.
The NMPB recently launched a national campaign to promote the cultivation of medicinal plants as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Under this campaign, medicinal plants will be cultivated on 75,000 hectares of land over the next one year across India. it is the second in the series of programmes organized by the AYUSH ministry under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
