National Offshore Wind Energy Policy

The National Offshore Wind Energy Policy was launched by the Indian Government in 2015 to provide basic framework for the development of offshore wind sector. After its launch, the government issued the ?Guidelines for Offshore Wind Power Assessment Studies and Surveys? to enable private investors to conduct offshore wind resource assessment.
The offshore wind resource assessments and related studies are also being carried out by the government through the National Institute of Wind Energy to corroborate offshore wind resource potential in select locations off the coast of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
