National Service Scheme Awards

National Service Scheme Awards were instituted in 1993-1994 by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to mark the Silver Jubilee Year of National Service Scheme, which was launched in 1969 to promote students-led community services. The awards recognize the contributions towards voluntary community services made by universities/colleges, +2 councils and senior secondary, NSS units/programme offices and NSS volunteers.
President Ram Nath Kovind presented the National Services Scheme Awards for the year 2019-20 on September 24 this year. He highlighted the contributions of NSS during the COVID-19 response across the country.
