NavIC system

Navigation in Indian Constellation (NavIC) is an Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), developed by ISRO. It consists of 8 satellites, with 3 in geostationary orbit and the rest in geosynchronous orbit. It provides accurate position, navigation and timing services for India and the regions located within 1,500 km around it.
The usage of this autonomous regional navigation system has increased since the launch in 2012 in sectors like transportation and personal mobility. It received recognition from the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), a global body for coordinating mobile telephony standards.
