The National Internet Exchange of India is a non-profit organization. Since the year 2003, NIXI has been working to popularize internet technology and strengthen the infrastructure of the Indian people. NIXI is registered under Article 8 of the Companies Act. NIXI was sponsored by the Information Technology Department which falls under the ambit of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in collaboration with the Indian Internet Service Providers Association.
Internet data is exchanged between Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and between ISPs and content delivery networks (CDNs) via Internet Exchanges. IN Registry manages and operates India’s national code domain and internationalized domain name ???? (IDN) through the registry. Indian Registry of Internet Names and Numbers manages and operates Internet Protocol.
NIXI looks for internet promotion. If necessary, NIXI will set up internet exchanges and peering points in various locations in India. Enables effective as well as efficient peering, transit exchange and routing of domestic Internet traffic. NIXI works to continuously improve the quality of domestic broadband and internet services. Operation of Internet domain names and establishment of other similar activities are also done by NIXI.
About IP Guru
IP Guru is supporting Indian companies that are planning to move to IPv6 adoption but are facing technical challenges by providing guidance and technical support to facilitate IPv6 adoption.
About NIXI academy
This academy was established to help Indians learn technologies such as IPv6. IPv6 is rarely included in the curriculum. It encourages both Indian engineers and non-engineers to engage in learning such techniques.
About IPv6 Index Portal
The IPv6 Index Portal was developed by NIXI for the Internet community. Provides information on domestic and global IPv6 adoption rates. This makes it easier to compare India’s progress in adopting IPv6 with other countries.
