Pakistan’s anti-rape law

Pakistan has passed a new law against sexual violence in light of massive protests. It provides for the establishment of special courts for expediting sexual abuse cases and rape trials. It also provides for establishment of anti- rape units for conducting medical examinations within 6 hours of the complaints being filed and the creation of a national registry of sexual offenders. The law is also expected to include death penalty and chemical castration as some of the penalties.
