Patriot air defence system
Patriot is a long-range, all-altitude, all-weather air defence system that provides defence against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and advanced aircraft. It is currently being manufactured by Raytheon (Massachusetts) and Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (Florida). It was used during the Iraq conflict in 2003.
The countries utilising this defence system are the US, Germany, Greece, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, UAE, South Korea, Qatar, Taiwan, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sweden etc. Switzerland is looking to purchase five of these defence systems along with 36 F-35A fighter jets from the US to defend its people from future air threats.
