PM-YUVA 3.0

On 11 March 2025, the Ministry of Education launched PM-YUVA 3.0, an initiative aimed at mentoring young authors in India. This programme targets authors under 30 years of age. It seeks to promote reading, writing, and a culture of literature across the nation. The initiative builds on the success of previous editions, which had participation in various Indian languages and English.

Objectives of PM-YUVA 3.0

The primary goal of PM-YUVA 3.0 is to nurture young writers. It aims to enhance their understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage. The programme encourages creative expression on themes that include the contributions of the Indian diaspora, the Indian knowledge system, and modern India’s makers.

Themes for Young Authors

Young authors will explore three key themes:

• Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building – This theme focuses on the role of the diaspora in shaping modern India.
• Indian Knowledge System – This theme marks historical wisdom and its relevance in contemporary society.
• Makers of Modern India (1950-2025) – This theme encourages exploration of influential figures who have contributed to India’s growth.

Implementation and Structure

The National Book Trust, will implement the scheme. The selection process will involve an All India Contest from 11 March to 10 April 2025. A total of 50 authors will be chosen based on their proposals.

Mentorship and Training

Selected authors will receive mentorship from established writers. Training will run from 30 June to 30 December 2025. The programme will culminate in a National Camp during the New Delhi World Book Fair in 2026.

Cultural Exchange and Publication

Books produced under PM-YUVA 3.0 will be published by the National Book Trust. They will also be translated into various Indian languages. This will encourage cultural exchange and promote the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

Youth Empowerment

The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which focuses on empowering young minds. With youth population, India is poised to harness this potential for nation-building.
