Pollen Calendar
Chandigarh recently released its first pollen calendar, which can identify potential allergy triggers and provide a clear understanding of the causes of pollen allergy. It will help reduce the exposure of allergy sufferers to high pollen loads.
In India, more than 20 to 30 per cent of the population suffer from allergic rhinitis/hay fever and around 15 per cent develop asthma. The main cause for this are pollens. The pollen calendar provide time dynamics of airborne pollen taxa in graphical form in a particular location throughout the year. It also provides location-specific concentration of the allergens based on the locally distributed flora.
