POSHAN Maah, which is observed during the month of September, is a community movement aimed at boosting the people’s participation in the Central Government’s flagship programme – POSHAN Abhiyaan. The objective of POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan is to improve the nutritional outcomes for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
This year, the Indian Government has divided POSHAN Maah into weekly themes for focused and assimilated approach to achieve holistic nutrition. It will include plantation drives in Anganwadis, schools, Gram Panchayats and other places. Other initiatives will include awareness about covid vaccinations and pandemic protocols, 5-minute Yoga Protocol, nutrition kit distribution, Anaemia camps etc.
