Prachand Attack Helicopters

Prachand Attack Helicopters

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to acquire 156 Prachand attack helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), marking a significant step in indigenous defense production. The Prachand, an indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), is customized to meet the specific needs of the Indian armed forces, capable of operating in desert terrains and high-altitude regions. It stands out as the world’s only attack helicopter capable of landing and taking off at an impressive altitude of 5,000 meters. The helicopter is powered by a 5.8-tonne Shakti engine designed for high-altitude deployment, achieves a maximum speed of 268 km/h, and features stealth capabilities, advanced armor, and countermeasure systems. Its weapon complement includes a 20mm nose gun with a range of 2 km.
