Proxima Centauri

Proxima Centauri is the closest star to the Sun. This star is located 4.25 light-years away from the Earth. It has at least two planets, with one of them orbiting around the star’s habitable zone. Recently, the Breakthrough Listen project’s Parkes Observatory in Australia picked up a 982 Mhz beam (called Breakthrough Listen Candidate 1) in the direction of this star. This is significant because BLC1 was neither man-made transmission or by a known natural phenomenon.
