Rapid Antigen Test

Rapid Antigen Test is a diagnostic tool used for detecting the presence or the absence of antigen. Due to its capacity to detect protein, it is different from other medical tests that detect antibodies or nucleic acid. It provides results in 5 to 30 minutes and requires minimal training, supportive infrastructure and cost. With the rapid spike in COVID-19 cases, the ICMR has recommended increased use of RAT to hasten the testing and isolation process.
