Sauropods are plant-eating dinosaurs known for their enormous sizes, some of which are largest to live on land. Recently, fossil bone fragments of a sauropods were discovered in an area around West Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya. This fossil is estimated to be around 100 million years old. With this discovery, Meghalaya has become the fifth state after Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to host Sauropods with titanosaurian affinity.
