SeHAT OPD Portal Launched
Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh has launched SeHAT (Services e-Health Assistance & Tele-consultation) OPD portal which is an online medical consultation service for the armed force veterans, personnel and their respective families. The portal has been launched through video conferencing with the main aim to reduce the burden on hospitals amid the Covid-19 pandemic gripping the country. The trial version of this portal was made available in the month of August, 2020.

About the portal
- The SeHAT OPD portal has been launched so as to provide telemedicine services in the Armed Forces. Launching this portal has further strengthened the government’s commitment towards digital India program and e-governance.
- Through this OPD portal, personnel serving in the Army, Navy, and Air Force as well as ex- service personnel can receive tele-consultations from specialist doctors.
- Around four crore people and the family members of the defence personnel will be benefited from this portal.
- Defence services doctors who are currently serving and are on regular duties will provide tele-consultation service through this portal.
- Persons who are aged 75 years and above can consult the doctors without having to wait.
- A similar portal named e-sanjeevani platform has also provided facility of doctor consultations via telecommunication to about 5 lakh people in the recent months.
About e-Sanjeevani platform
eSanjeevani is the telemedicine service, implemented under the Ayushman Bharat health programme. This provides doctor to doctor interaction and has connected the entire 1.5 lakh wellness and health centres that has been established under Ayushman Bharat programme. As of now service has been implemented in 23 States across the country and it is limited only to android users.

eSanjeevaniOPD is a tele-consultation service which enables patients to interact with doctors. This has been launched during the COVID-19 pandemic so as to ensure that proper health services reaches to the doorstep of everybody while maintaining the norms of social distancing.
