Southern Naval Command recently conducted a two-day event to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of the late Admiral Ronald Lynsdale ‘Ronnie’ Pereira. The event, held from November 14-15, 2023 in Kochi, saw the gathering of many senior naval leaders and distinguished veterans to honor the memory of the 9th Chief of Naval Staff.
Admiral R. Hari Kumar, current Chief of Naval Staff, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address on November 14, he highlighted Adm. Pereira’s remarkable over four-decade-long career that shaped the modern Indian Navy.
The event featured panel discussions on leadership stimulating the audience. Topics included “Ronnie Pereira – The Admiral, the Man and a Leader with Credibility”, “Leadership – Different Strokes” and “Leadership at the Field Level”. Speakers recalled Adm. Pereira’s visionary leadership, integrity, courage and commitment.
On this special occasion, a commemorative postal cover and documentary movie titled “Keep the Faith” on Adm. Pereira’s enduring legacy were released by the Chief of Naval Staff. The events were a fitting tribute to the iconic leader who continues to inspire current and future generations of the Indian Navy.
