In the recent developments in India, the Supreme Court has introduced the SuSwagatam Portal for online registration and e-pass generation. Furthermore, cultural strides are being witnessed with the celebration of Arunachal Rang Mahotsav. In military affairs, INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata will be showing off their might in MALABAR 2023, and lastly, India’s space sector is set to get a boost with the establishment of a new spaceport.
The Introduction of SuSwagatam Portal
The Supreme Court (SC) recently launched ‘SuSwagatam,’ an online portal for advocates, visitors, interns and others to acquire e-passes for accessing the court. This web-based portal is mobile-friendly and allows users to apply for e-passes for court hearings, meetings with advocates, among other uses. Initially, the portal underwent testing as a pilot project in July 2023 and has since received positive responses from users.
The Cultural Extravaganza: Arunachal Rang Mahotsav
Arunachal Rang Mahotsav, a four-day festival celebrated in various Indian states, is designed to portray Arunachal’s history through drama. This festival aligns with the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat principles, with four plays scheduled to be performed in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Guwahati.
Military Developments: INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata in MALABAR 2023
Indian Navy’s indigenous warships, INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata, are set to participate in Exercise MALABAR 2023, taking place near Sydney from August 11 to August 21, 2023. They will join forces with vessels and aircraft from the US Navy (USN), Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). The MALABAR maritime exercise series, which began in 1992 as a bilateral initiative between the Indian Navy and US Navy, has significantly evolved to include four major naval forces in the Indo-Pacific Region.
Expansion of India’s Space Sector: New Spaceport in Tamil Nadu
India’s space capabilities are on an upward trajectory with the upcoming establishment of a new spaceport in Kulasekarapattinam, Tamil Nadu. This spaceport will serve as the launchpad for Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLV) developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The aim is to provide low-cost and flexible access to space for small satellites. Notably, the spaceport will also be open to Non-Government Entities (NGEs), subject to technical and safety requirements as per the Indian Space Policy 2023. Accompanying this development, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) was established as a single-window agency to facilitate and authorize NGEs’ space activities.
