Uttar Pradesh: ‘Arjuna Sahayak’ Irrigation Project

On the second day of his visit to Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that the Arjuna Sahayak irrigation project will be completed in one or two months.

  • UP CM said that the Arjuna Sahayak irrigation project will bring positive changes in the lives of farmers of Banda, Hamirpur, and Mahoba.
  • He further added that the project will be completed in one or two months and will be inaugurated by PM Modi.
  • He said this while addressing the public after inspecting the Lahchura Dam under the Arjun Sahayak Project in the district of Mahoba.
  • The Arjuna Sahayak irrigation project is a Rs 2,600 crore project.
  • The irrigation project on the River Dhasan will offer irrigation facilities to 1.5 lakh farmers of as many as 168 UP villages of Banda, Hamirpur, and Mahoba.
  • Approximately 4 lakh people will get the benefit of pure drinking water through the project.
  • Other than this, irrigation facilities will also be provided to an area of 15,000 hectares.
  • The capacity of irrigation under the Arjuna Sahayak irrigation project will be expanded up to an area of 44,382 hectares.

Dhasan River

Dhasan River has been the basis of India’s tradition and culture and also the main source of water. The river originates from Begumganj tehsil of Raisen district in Madhya Pradesh state in central India. The total length of the river is 365 km. The river has 240 km of its length in Madhya Pradesh; 71km in Uttar Pradesh and 54 km in the common boundary between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
