The Indian government has recently approved the Vibrant Village Programme, a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at developing bordering villages in the northern part of India. The Vibrant Village Programme will be implemented for the financial years 2022–23 to 2025–26. The scheme involves implementing holistic development projects in bordering villages in the northern part of India. The programme’s total outlay is Rs. 4,800 crore, and it will cover 662 villages in the first phase.

The scheme aims to provide a comprehensive approach to village development, focusing on four key areas – social infrastructure, economic infrastructure, skill development, and institutional development. The programme’s primary objective is to provide a conducive environment for sustainable economic activities, leading to job creation and reducing migration from these villages.
