Web Portal for Monitoring the Progress of GOBARDHAN

A unified web portal has been launched for monitoring the progress of GOBARDHAN activities across the country. The portal was jointly launched by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Minister of State for Jal Shakti Rattan Lal Kataria.

  • Gobardhan scheme is aimed at managing biodegradable and cattle waste along with helping to increase the income of the farmers.
  • Gobardhan is a major component of Swachh Bharat Mission Phase-2 for organic solid waste management.
  • After the introduction of the Gobardhan scheme, the disposal of cattle dung waste has become possible. The scheme will also help to achieve the goal of Open Defecation-Free (ODF) Plus.
  • The scheme will also prove to be a major step towards increasing cleanliness.
  • In addition to achieving the ODF++ target, the Gobardhan scheme will also be helpful in getting ethanol, bio-diesel, and compressed bio-fuel in the upcoming years.
  • The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation will work with all the other stakeholders to implement the Gobardhan scheme across villages.

The launch of this portal will also ensure transparency and easy monitoring of all the activities under the Gobardhan scheme.
