What is Lufengosaurus?

Lufengosaurus is a presauropod dinosaur that roamed the Earth during the early and middle Jurassic Period in southwestern China. It is the first complete dinosaur skeleton to be displayed in China. This dinosaur gained spotlight in 2017 when scientists discovered a 195 million-year old collagen protein in the rib of a Lufengosaurus fossil.

Recently, Palaeontologists have discovered an 8-metre long Lufengosaurus fossil that is nearly 70 per cent intact. It is estimated to be 180 million years old. It was discovered late last month in the city of Lufeng in Southern China. This discovery is significant because it is highly rare to find near-complete dinosaur fossils.
