World Autism Awareness Day 2023 Theme Announced

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that affects a wide array of individuals. It typically manifests during early childhood and remains influential throughout the person’s life. Autism symptoms can range from social difficulties, repetitive behavior patterns, speech complications, and other behavioral issues. Furthermore, the level of care and support required by autistic individuals varies greatly depending on their needs. The United Nations acknowledged the importance of spreading awareness, fostering acceptance and providing aid to those affected by creating World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, first observed in 2008. World Autism Awareness Day 2023’s theme is “Contribution of Autistic Individuals at Home, at Work, in the Arts, and Policymaking. In India, the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 governs the rights of autistic individuals and others with disabilities.

The India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline

The India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (IBFP) was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This pipeline, with its ability to transport 1 million Metric Ton Per Annum (MMTPA) of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) to Bangladesh, serves as the second cross-border energy pipeline between India and its neighboring countries, with the first being IBFP. This establishment symbolizes the robust relationship between the two nations, considering their shared connectivity and people-to-people bonds. Moreover, it promotes energy cooperation and aids agricultural growth in Bangladesh.

Bastille Day Parade

The Bastille Day Parade is a significant event in France that occurs every July 14 in Paris. This parade is also known as the French National Day parade or the 14 July military parade. The celebration consists of military parades showcasing a serious demeanor during the day, while evening festivities often involve dancing and fireworks. Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited to this event in France.

Mahavir Jayanti

Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira, the last Tirthankara in Jainism. The Jain community observes this day with much reverence. Lord Mahavira was born on the 13th day in the bright half of the moon during the month of Chaitra as per Jain tradition. In the Gregorian calendar, this usually falls in March or April. On Mahavir Jayanti, a procession involving a ceremonial bath called abhisheka for Lord Mahavira’s idol takes place, led by a Rath Yatra. Devotees also recite Jain prayers or stavans in praise of the Lord. Lord Mahavira preached principles like ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), brahmacharya (chastity), and aparigraha (non-attachment). These teachings were later compiled into Jain Agamas.

Cope India Exercise

Cope India Exercise is a bilateral combined training effort between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the US Air Force (USAF). This exercise began as a fighter-training drill in 2004, with the latest session held in 2019. Over time, the exercise has evolved to encompass additional elements such as subject matter expert exchanges, air mobility training, airdrop training, and large-force exercises. Now, the Air Forces of India and the U.S. are preparing for the Cope India exercise scheduled from April 10 to 21 at the Kalaikunda airbase in West Bengal. Japan will participate as an observer this time. Other joint defense drills between India and the US include Yudh-Abhyas (Military Exercise), Vajra Parhar, and Dharma Guardian with Japan. Furthermore, a Trilateral Maritime Exercise called Malabar is set to take place involving the navies of India, Japan, and the USA.
