World Bamboo Day

18th September is observed as the World Bamboo Day annually to create global awareness about the importance of bamboo industry. During this day, efforts are taken to promote and conserve the industry. It is organized by the World Bamboo Organization (WBO) – an international coordinating body for bamboo practitioners that was established in 1992. It was founded by Kamesh Salam, the former president of the WBO, in 2009.
During the World Bamboo Day, various initiatives are taken to ensure the sustainable utilization of bamboos. Bamboos are used for multiple purposes and they are popular mainly in East and Southeast Asia.
